Appointed as Learning & Development Zone Manager in April 2016, my role is to promote Learning and Development throughout the Centre to Centre Users, Volunteers and Staff. Our mission states "Success- We expect to achieve success for individuals, groups and the community and celebrate when we achieve it". In partnership with the other Zone Managers I aim to provide as many opportunities as possible for, and work with our community in the development of children, young people and older people at the Centre.

Pre-loved school uniform available

Thanks to the generous donations from the Community, we now have a stock of  pre-loved school uniform available. Maureen McFadden, Busy B’s has diligently washed and ironed it all, and Bernie & Norman have kindly agreed to distribute it through Quids In Food Club on Merseybank Avenue. You do not need to be a member of the Food Club to be able to get uniform.

Extended Library Opening Hours from September 2016

wholeworldopenedtomereadingquotemarymcleodbethune

Since March of this year, we have seen the Library membership grow by 111 new members, and we are proud to say that the Library has been visited by 814 Adults and 432 Children in the same period.  The Library is staffed by Volunteers, members of our Community who freely donate their time and skills to keeping the Library “ship shape” ; without them it would not be possible to be able to offer the high standard of service and support that we do.  It is largely through their support that from MONDAY  12TH SEPTEMBER our Library Opening Hours will be extended

Monday – Friday Morning 9.30a.m.  to 12.30p.m.

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Afternoon 1p.m. to 4p.m.

Tuesday afternoon has  been extended from 1p.m. to 8p.m.

Saturday mornings 9.30a.m. to 12p.m.

Volunteer Recognition Event

Thanks to funding received from the Big Lottery, the Staff were able to fulfil a long held desire to honour the contribution made by the Centre’s Volunteers, 44 in total.

We held a “James Bond” theme night and put on the glitz and the glamour, to award each Volunteer a Certificate to recognise their individual contribution. Julie Mrozek, Centre Manager, opened the event and listed all the skills our Volunteers bring to the Centre and how, without them, we would not be able to provide the services we do to the Community.

Everyone agreed that it had been a night to remember and a good time was had by all!

Fundraising at Barclays

A massive thank you to all the staff at Barclays Bank, Radbroke Hall, Knutsford who bought cakes and other Easter goodies on Monday 21st March. The event raised £402 which Barclays doubled to £804.  Our thanks also go to everyone who donated their time and talents to make cakes and Easter hampers to the sale including Maureen Mclelllan, Lisa Heaney and Grant Lopo of Granted Cakes.   Sajida Jibran from Unique Stoved Cales also donated her time to bake cakes for us.

If you would like to hold a similar fundraising event at our place of work, school or church please speak to any member of our staff and volunteer team.  All funds raised are used to provide services and equipment for our Community.

Children from Barlow Hall Primary School having fun in the Library on World Book Day.

We’ve been celebrating world book day today; Cat, Fay and Khin-thant were delighted to welcome Anne-Marie Mendieta, Reading Recovery Teacher, Barlow Hall Primary School and 38 children, accompanied by Staff and Parents to the Library. Each Child was given a free book to celebrate World Book Day and we had a lot of fun with stories and arts and crafts, and the opportunity to join the Library.
