Following last Monday’s terrorist attack young people from right across the city have been emotionally affected by the tragic events that took place. Many of our local young people went the concert on Monday night and many others had friends who attended.
As next week is half term drop in sessions have been arranged for young people and their parents to attend to provide emotional and wellbeing support to those young people who need it. A team of trained and experienced professionals will be available onsite at the venues and times below in order to provide information and advice to students and parents, to promote the emotional health and wellbeing of children, during this particularly difficult period should they need it.
It is our pleasure to announce that the Youth Zone was nominated for two awards in 2016. One for Manchester Sports Awards, Youth and Community Sport Project which unfortunately we didn’t make the finalists for. We were also nominated for the Be Proud Awards Unsung Hero Group of the Year 2016. We made the finalists. Lance, one of our staff; Clover, our Chair; Steve, a volunteer and Tobija, one of our young people went along for the awards ceremony at Manchester Town Hall on December 2nd. It was a fantastic evening, they were treated to a lovely three course meal before the awards ceremony began. BMCA Youth Zone won the award for Unsung Hero Group of the Year 2016. We would like to thank our three nominees Maureen, Elliot and Rudi for giving us the opportunity to be celebrated for some of the great work we do here on the Merseybank Estate. We would also like to congratulate the other two finalists in our category, Anson Community Shop and Barakah Food Aid.
