Work is almost complete on BMCA’s new Community Centre

Contractors are putting the finishing touches to BMCA’s brand new community centre. The flats above will be finished within weeks and the car park should be complete within the next few days! Regular activities and provisions are up and running. It is amazing to see how much has been done by everyone involved and the very exciting to see what a positive impact the new centre will have on the new community. Everyone has worked hard together and gone the extra mile to get to this stage. BMCA Ltd are very proud of their amazing staff and greatful for all the efforts of Wates, Southway, funders and partners who have made this dream become a reality.

Foundations Laid, Structure going up! – April 2013

Work has begun on site after a delay to the start of the building. No time is being wasted as the metal structure rises above the hoarding. You can view the progress for yourself on Merseybank Avenue, there are viewing windows positioned along the hoarding.

You can drop into the site office for a surgery on Friday mornings from 11 till 12 to ask questions and see the building progress.

New Building Progress

Planning permission has been granted for the new community centre.

Southway are planning to break ground in January 2013.

Funding Update – December 2012

We have been advised by the Big Lottery Fund that we have been unsuccessful in our bid for funds to fit out the new community centre.  This is of course disappointing news and will require us to make some amendments to our original timescales, however the Board of BMCA Ltd, together with Southway Housing Trust Ltd, remain committed to the development.

The New Centre will still be built, and is on schedule to commence in January 2013, with completion anticipated for August 2013. The relocation and expansion of the Centre’s facilities will now be in two phases:

Phase 1. Re-locate all the existing provision that we have in the centre to the new centre which will provide improved and expanded facilities for all our service users.

Phase 2. Secure alternative funding to develop the facilities to increase and enhance provision for the community with the introduction of a dedicated youth zone, learning centre and library.
